Carmel’s spirituality is based entirely on Christ, but Carmelites also take inspiration from Elijah, the prophet of Mount Carmel, and Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Carmelites seek to be attentive to the Word of God especially through the Gospels, prayerful meditation and through silence. The celebration of the Eucharist is central and it is through the liturgy of the Church that personal prayer draws much of its nourishment.

Our apostolate is in the world and therefore we need to be aware of the signs of the times. Christ’s life on earth was one of loving concern for mankind and the world and thus our life must be about a commitment to all people.
